In the wide open expanses above me, I once saw an eagle dive and dance in the limitless space. I watched it glide without moving its wings for what seemed like forever and became transfixed . . . in awe of its incredible power. It became a moment of enlightenment as I understood why others desperately want to be able to fly like that eagle.

The sky seems to stretch forever. We always seem to be looking for something beyond what we can see. Perhaps that is why we think heaven is above and our loved ones who have passed on are now looking down, watching us. Peace and wonder fill my heart, when I pause to look upwards. I give thanks for the sacredness I find within me whenever I contemplate the daytime sky.
