For thousands of years, these descendents of the Aztecs have followed the age-old ways to communicate with the Spirits. The Huichol people of Central Mexico create works made with a time honored tradition taught to them by their elders. They use beads to create spiritual art.

The beadwork – pieces of rare and exquisite beauty — are handmade with thousands of brilliant, colored beads pressed into beeswax which has been poured over a wooden mold. The display of beads is placed on the artwork in a pattern distinctive to each artist.

Once left at places of power, the exquisite beadwork was made as a prayer offering to the Great Spirits. These beaded pieces now offer a look into the power of a spiritual heritage, the mind of a creative and traditional soul and a time gone by.
