I am wild; I am tame. I am proud. I run like the wind, my hooves trampling the tall grass of the plains, as I fly toward the herd of buffalo before me in the great hunt. I become “One” with the human on my back; his subtle nudges direct my course and speed. I carry meat to the camp to help feed the tribe. In the heat of battle, I protect him, rearing up to slash at the danger before us, to strike down our enemy and keep him safe. I am a gentle beast when he lifts his young son upon my back to teach him the way to become a proud warrior. The man and I are “One”. Together, we provide for and protect the tribe. In the “sacred way” that has always been, he is Man. I am Horse.
