Vishnu, of the Hindu Holy Trinity, is the protector god of all creation. In his mercy and goodness, he will incarnate upon earth to restore the balance when evil is overcoming good. The four arms of Vishnu represent his continual presence throughout the universe. In one hand, he holds the conch shell to spread the divine sound of “Aum,” the creative mantra of the universe returning all to wholeness. His second hand holds the disc to destroy the ego interfering with the path to holiness. His mace, held in the third hand, represents Vishnu’s ability to restore balance through karma. The final hand holds the sacred lotus representing the purity of the divine and spiritual freedom.
