The sun presented a glorious gift to me this morning. As I’d done so many times before, I glanced at the river on my drive to work. I caught glimpses of the sunrise peeking through the trees on the other side. Pink and blue tendrils of light, the fingers of God, escaped the morning’s gloom to embrace me. A small, dense fog blanketed the river, yet no fog covered the banks on either side. Two herons flew low and silent over the water, guardians of the peace of the moment. The total effect of the scene made me believe, if only for a moment, that someone had painted a magical scene just for me. The sight left me breathless, awestruck and wondering what I’d done to deserve this precious moment in time.

Thank you, Sunrise. You brightened my day.
